Welcome to the Lab
Why we built a lab instead of a blog, and what you'll find inside.

Every workspace tells you what it’s for before you’ve done anything in it. A stage asks you to perform. A gallery asks you to admire. A shop asks you to buy. We wanted a room that asks you to *try things* so we built a lab.
AmesOmes is a digital lab for curious minds. Two of us run it: Amy, who works in design and movement, and Omar, who works in medicine and AI. On paper we don’t overlap much. In practice we’re the same kind of person, the kind who takes something apart to see how it works and only sometimes puts it back together.
We could have made a blog. A blog is a fine thing, but it has a posture: finished thoughts, published in past tense, tidied up for an audience. That posture never quite fit what we actually do, which is closer to tinkering. Ideas here won’t always be finished. Some will be wrong. That isn’t a bug it’s the whole point of a lab.
So here’s what you’ll find as the shelves fill up:
- Journal: thinking out loud. Half-formed ideas, notes from the middle of a project, things we’re still chewing on.
- Projects: the things we actually make. Some useful, some just interesting.
- Podcast: conversations, because the best thinking rarely happens alone.
Our rules are simple. Think out loud. Make things. Share the process not only the polished result, but the false starts and the parts that didn’t work, which are usually the parts worth reading about.
This is the first entry, which means the shelves are mostly empty and the experiments haven’t started yet. That’s a good place to begin.
Pull up a stool.
